help ukraine - допомога україні

Welcome and thank you for your interest in helping and supporting the people of Ukraine as they deal with this unthinkable situation. I am a Ukrainian (born half Russian, half Ukrainian in the “good old” days of the Soviet Union) now living in the US. My entire mom’s side of family is still in Ukraine, spending nights in bomb shelters and basements and some are making Molotov cocktails to support our brave troops. That’s right. Molotov cocktails in the middle of Europe in 21st century!

I just started this page on Saturday, March 5th and will be adding lots more information here so please bookmark, share, and check out the updates throughout the weekend! Thank you again for your interest and help, every little bit is highly appreciated!

The picture on the left is my parents’ house in Oklahoma. I brought the Ukrainian flag and we put it above our garage. The next day, our neighbor rang the doorbell and asked if we would like to use his old flag pole. Now we have both flags flying next to each other!

Donations and monetary help

There are lots and lots of companies, organizations, and just groups of people doing great work to help. The following are the ones I have personally donated to already. I will continue to populate this list.

return alive - Повернись живим

The charity operating in Ukraine since 2020 to help Ukrainian army and others fighting for the country. This one is the most promoted within Ukraine itself, gathering millions of dollars in donations from regular Ukrainians in the first days of the war.

There is an option to donate with credit card through fondy.eu. Note that the charge is in Ukrainian Hryvna (approximately $1 USD to 30 hryvna) so you might want to use a credit card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee.

People in need - Člověk v tísni

I also randomly saw this Czech organization that sets up train-fulls of humanitarian aid and sends them to Ukraine. There is an option to donate in USD via credit card so shouldn't be any fees.

moldova for peace

Volunteer group working with folks that cross from Ukraine to Moldova. Donations are through the Chuffed crowdfunding website, similar to kickstarter. Donations are in euros (1 euro is about 32 hryvnas) so you might want to use a credit card that doesn’t charge a foreign transaction fee.
